Ladakh is a region situated in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the Northern India. It is land of high passes sandwitched between the Karakolam mountain range with its massive glaciers to the north and the great Himalayas with mountains over 7000 m high to the south. The land of Lamas, Laddakh is a eminent seat of Buddhist culture of the middle ages and remote mountain beauty. Laddakh comprises two districts, Leh and Kargil. Leh (3505 metres) the capital of Laddakh was once a meeting place for caravance from Kashmir, Gilgit, Central Asia and Tibet. This caravan route connects Leh to Yarkand, Kashgar and Khotan over the Karakoram pass at 5570 metres.

Zanskar
Zanskar is a Kargil Sub-division of Laddakh and it is situated between the Great Himalayas range in the south and Indus valley in the north. The river Zanskar, which flows through it, joins Indus river a little below Leh. The whole valley is situated in the inner Himalayas and is higher than most of the other areas of Ladakh. The greatest attraction of Zanskar are its Buddhist culture, beautiful monasteries, awe-inspiring barren mountainscape and the twin peaks of NUN (7135 metres) and KUN (7077 metres), Padum is the headquarter of Zanskar and is joined by rough road to Kargil. The valley is about 300km long and is connected with Manali and Leh by passes over 5000 metres. Trekking on these trails involve strenuous walking at altitudes between 3000 and 5000 metres. The people are mainly Buddhist and much like the people of Ladakh in their dress, customs and religion.

Jammu & Kashmir
The city of Jammu was founded by Jamboo Lochan about 3000 years ago, whose capital at Bahu. During the course of time the city came to be known as Jammu. It is located at an altitude of 305 metres on a Shiwalik hillock with river Tawi flowering at the foot-hill, all with the back-drop of the imposing peaks of the Trikuta Mountain Jammu is also known as the City of Temples on account of the scores of shrines with soaring golden shikhars. Kashmir is India’s northern state bordering Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Tibet show capped parallel mountain ranges, including the major Karakoram, Zanskar and Pir Panjal, running north-west to south-east, adorn the landscape of icy pinnacles towering above frozen lakes, rippling streams meandering through tall coniferous forests, flower spangled meadows and emerald glades, wild orchards and sylvan pools of lotus and lily and all the magic of the rugged face of earth.

Srinagar
Srinagar City, Kashmir Travel PackagesSrinagar (1768 metres) is 900km north of Delhi via Pathankot and Jammu. It is on the both sides of the river Jhelum and is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, which includes Jammu, Valley of Kashmir, Ladakh and Zanskar areas.

Sonamarg
At an altitude of 2740 metres, Sonamarg is 84 kms from srinagar along the Srinagar-Leh highway. The town lies in the heart of a beautiful valley carved by the river Sindh, the meadow of gold strewn with the loveliest of alpine flowers and surrounded by towering mountains.

Pahalgaon
96 km from Srinagar, Pahalgaon (2240 metres) is heralded by guyshing, silver streams of icewater and by densely wooden mountains. As the road winds along. Pahalgaon appears round the corner against a back ground of mountains and glistening glaciers with streams rushing past. Pahalgaon is the starting point of many trekking trails, such as to the Kolohoi Glacier, Amarnath, Zanskar and Kargil.

U.P.Himalayas (Garhwal)
Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarkhand is very sacred to Hindus. It is the vast region of primeval forests and gigantic mountains with a three-fold range of eternal snow dividing India from China. The garhwal Himalayas contain some of the foremost sacred shrines of the Hindus, such as, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yammotri, besides numerous other places of pilgrimage, confluence of sacred rivers (called Prayags) and holy spots.

Haridwar
Literally, “The Gateway to God”, Haridwar is by far the most popular solace centre of the religious Hindus. An ancient township is the Himalayan foot-hills. Haridwar is a temple city with bathing Ghats crowded by motley crowds in search of “instant” nirvana, hoping for a dip in the chilly waters of the river. From here the Ganga surges ahead to begin her journey across the vast plains of India.

Rishikesh
Situated at the back of Gange at 340 metres, Rishikesh is the gateway to Garhwal and the Himalayan pilgrimage centres such as Yomnotri, Gangaotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath as well as to several trekking trials. Many yoga ashrams (centres), including the famous Mahesh Yogi Ashram and Sivananda Ashram are situated here. It is also a most suitable place to study Hindu religion and philosophy.

Kumaon
Kumaon comprises Almora, Nainital and Pithoragarh, the three north-eastern Himalayan districts of Uttar Pradesh. It extends to the international boundaries of Nepal and China in the north and the east. to its west lie the district of Pauna Chamoh Kumaon and Garhwal are two neighbouring districts with name of Uttarkhand Kumaon hills offer magnificent trekking with a great variety of adventure. Pindan Glacier is the most popular trait with comfortable Tourist Bungalows all the way.

Valleys of Flowers Hemkund Sahib
Abode of the Gods
Located in the Chamoli District of Uttar Pradesh, this trails was used for years by early climbers and explorers to try and get closer to the stately summits of the inaccessible Nanda Devi Sanctuary area. Following the outer wall of the sanctuary, the trail goes over three passes-Kukina Khal (3203 m), and Kuari Khal (3813 m), and across the clear waters of three major tributaries of the Alaknbanda the Pinder, Mandakini, nad Birahi Ganga, before descending into the Alaknanda valley.

Having fortunately escaped exploitation, the dense conifer, oak and rhododendron forests in teh area are rich green in spring, changing to warn russet and gold in autumn. Throughout the trek, there are wonderful views of the Himalayan peaks, nut the most breaktaking is the view from Kuari Pass itself. Mussoorie
Mussoorie Travel GuideAt an altitude of 2025 metres, 35 km beyond Dehradun and 270 km from Delhi, Mussoorie is a popular hill resort. It is situated on a horse-shoe shapped hill. Commanding a panoramic view of extensive snow ranges to the north-east, it presents a glittering view of teh Doon valley down below. Mussoorie is a gateway to many of the Garhwal treks, specially those leading to Yamunotri valley and Tons valley. These are Nag Tibba, Lakhamandal, Yamnotri, Har-ki-Doon and to base of Kalang Peak.

Gangotri
Ganga or the ganges, the most sacred river of India, finds her source near Gangotri at Gaumukh literally Gow's Mouth from where it gushes out of a snow in the glacier. The temple of Gangothri (3140 m) is dedicated to the river goddess Ganga. The water of the river remains uncontaminated even after being kept for several years.

Yamunotri
Yamunotri (3185 m) is the source of the Yamuna river, Legend has it that in the days long ago a saint named Asit has his hermitage here. His daily rituals included a bath in the Yamuna. When old age crept upon him, he could no longer walk to the river. Yo help the old ascetic, Yamuna released a stream which wended its way down to the hermitage and appeared before the great sage. This spot is today known as Yamunothri.

Sikkim
The land of high mountains, monasteries, orchids and butterflies, dense forests and clear streams, Sikkim is perfect trekking country. Bird-life is profile and wild alpine flowers grow in Profusion. Forests of rhododendron, when in bloow (spring) provide a vivid splash of colour. The trial starts at Pemayangise, with a sunrise view of Kanchenjunga and a visit to the second oldest monastery in Sikkim, which is the residence of the Royal Monk. A beautiful climb through dense forests, with magnolia, rhododendron, blue poppies and orchids in all abundance, black and brown himalayan bear, musk deer and a variety of wild animals inhabit the area. After visiting a small village of Tibetan Regfugees, the trial moves on to Dzongri with its magnificient view of the Kanchenjunga massif. The peaks of Jophine, Kabru, and Pandim, as well as some of the mountains of Nepal and Tibet now come into view. The Gocha-la offers a spectacular and close view of Kanchenjunga.
